This is an Awake in the Wild Mindfulness in Nature practice offered when I substituted for my mindfulness in nature teacher Mark Coleman in one of his Sunrise Meditations. It was a rainy and on-the-edge-of-frosty fall October morning in Ottawa, Canada, quite a contrast to the Sausalito, California views in Mark’s sunrise meditations, however the love for the earth is the same. Joanna Macy said “The heart that breaks open can contain the whole universe.” It is my belief that we need to draw close and connect to the current state of the earth in crisis, open to feeling our connection to the living planet and the grief at its suffering, and only then can we develop a wise and compassionate response to the question “How should we live in this world in this time?” Enjoy. I hope this supports you on your journey to finding your own answer to this question. Kindness, Kimberly Sogge PhD CPsych Psychologist, Mindfulness Teacher, Awake in the Wild Facilitator
