Carole Karen Trépanier, M.A. Candidate

I am a bilingual counselling intern from the School of Counselling Psychotherapy and Spirituality at Saint Paul University. I will begin my supervised clinical practicum training in individual psychotherapy working with adults with depression, anxiety, stress, confidence and phase of life issues at Sogge & Associates Practice in Psychology in May of 2016.

About me:

I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Specialization in Psychology from the University of Ottawa. I continued my studies in psychology within the research stream at the Master and Doctoral level before transitioning into the Master of Arts degree in Counselling and Spirituality at Saint Paul University.

I am very excited to be working with Sogge and Associates under the supervision of Dr. Kimberly Sogge. Since 2014, Dr. Sogge has been my mentor in my practice and development as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher, training in accordance with the standards set out by the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, the University of California – San Diego Center for Mindfulness and the Center for Mindful Self Compassion, respectively.

My sincere belief is that when one is met with genuine empathy, respect and support, the human spirit can thrive in the face of adversity and challenging life events. Indeed, adversity might even be understood and reframed as an opportunity for tremendous inner and outer growth. The underlying constant in my therapeutic approach to counselling is my unwavering presence with the client as we work together to foster the necessary attitudes, perceptions and conditions for wellbeing, happiness and deep inner peace.

My personal experience and professional training accord with my ease and competence in serving those who experience anxiety, depression, issues with self-esteem and self-confidence, as well as hindrances related to personal, interpersonal, and spiritual growth. I also understand the import of dealing with existential issues such as life, death and meaning making. My past experience as an NCAA All-American athlete aligns well with athletes seeking support, and I warmly welcome individuals within the LGBTTQ community.

I honour and applaud you for your intention and courage in making the most of your lived experience.

Please do not hesitate to book an initial session with me at Sogge & Associates by clicking on the Book Now link and choosing the Associates schedule then Carole Karen Trépanier. I look forward to meeting with you soon.
