Health At Every Size: Body Image and Recovery from Disordered Eating
Dr Sogge and other clinicians at the Ottawa River Psychology Group, offer professional, evidence-based psychological support for recovery from problems related to the over-valuation of food, weight, shape and their control.
For adults and some adolescents, Dr Sogge offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for eating disorders (CBT-E) for those early in treatment and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness based recovery skills for recovery maintenance and relapse prevention for those farther along in recovery.
For those adolescents and families for whom it is appropriate, Dr. Sogge offers either Maudsley Family Based Treatment for eating disorders such as Binge Eating Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and cases of EDNOS. Maudsley FBT is the only evidence-based intervention available for outpatient treatment of eating disorders in adolescents. FBT is an appropriate evidence-based intervention for intervening in early stages of an eating disorder’s intrusion on a young person’s life, as well as for moderate to severe cases that are close to hospitalization or recently discharged from inpatient hospitalization.
Dr. Sogge is the only psychologist in the Montreal-Ottawa area listed in the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (see Therapists in Consultation section for more information)
