In my post doctoral clinical training I worked with the post traumatic stress disorders unit at the Olin Teague Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Texas.
I have been privileged to work as a psychologist in the Musculoskeletal Clinic at the New Alberta Children’s Hospital, as faculty in Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Texas A&M College of Medicine, and as a Program Director in Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health in New England.
Prior to relocating to Ottawa, I was the consulting psychologist for the Eating Disorder Programs at the Women’s Health Clinic and the Family and Youth Clinic at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Teaching & Supervision
I enjoy teaching and training the next generation of psychologists: I provide clinical teaching and supervision to doctoral students at the Centre for Psychoogical Services at the University of Ottawa. I have taught Cognitive and Advanced Abnormal Psychology as an adjunct faculty member in the Psychology Department at Trent University. I have also taught Intellectual and Behavioral Assessment as an instructor at the University of Lethbridge and University of Calgary.

In addition to clinical work, I coach the development of leaders and high performers in business. I have served as a Mentoring Facilitator of female executives through WXN – Ottawa, the Ottawa Chapter of the Women’s Executive Network.
I have practiced psychology privately with the Calgary Psychology Group and the Telka Smith Practice in Psychology in Peterborough, Ontario. In private practice I have focused on diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, and empowering approaches to health psychology problems for adolescents, adults, and athletes.
I offer mindfulness based services (see service tab on this website). I have taught mindfulness for health at the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group and many other organizations. I have completed training in Jon Kabat Zinn‘s mindfulness-based stress reduction curriculum, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and continuing education in sport and performance psychology.
